About DIS Farm

Sustainable dairy for a resilient rural future.

We are building a modern, integrated dairy farm that produces quality milk for Rwanda while caring for the land, the lake and the community around us.

Our story

From a lakeside ridge to an integrated dairy.

DIS Farm sits on gently sloping land in Gakoni, Kiramuruzi, where the hills of Gatsibo meet the eastern arm of Lake Muhazi. Good soils, reliable water and strong sunshine make it an ideal place for year-round fodder and dairy.

Rather than grow piece by piece, we started with a complete plan: an integrated masterplan that places every barn, field, pipe and solar panel where it works best with the others, and protects the wetland and lakeshore at the same time.

Our goal is clear: 4,000 litres of quality milk a day by 2030, produced in a way that creates local jobs, strengthens Rwanda's dairy value chain and shows what a climate-smart farm can look like.

Mission

To produce safe, high-quality milk through efficient, humane and climate-smart farming, and to share what we learn with farmers across Rwanda.

Vision

A thriving rural economy around Lake Muhazi, anchored by a model dairy that is productive, profitable and in balance with nature.

What we stand for

Our values.

  • Animal welfare

Healthy, comfortable, well-fed cows are the foundation of everything we produce.

  • Quality & safety

Clean milking, fast cooling and regular testing from cow to collection.

  • Stewardship

We protect the lake, the wetland and the soil for the generations that follow.

  • Community

Local jobs, skills and partnerships that help neighbouring farmers grow too.

  • Innovation

Solar energy, smart irrigation and data-driven herd management.

  • Integrity

Transparent dealings with buyers, partners, staff and authorities.

Our location

Between the hills of Gatsibo and Lake Muhazi.

Lake Muhazi is a long, winding freshwater lake in Rwanda's Eastern Province. Our land runs down to its shore, giving the farm water, a mild climate and a beautiful setting.
