20 kWp
PV baseline for irrigation
Clean energy
Rooftop solar and battery storage power milk cooling, lighting and irrigation, cutting diesel use and keeping operations running through outages.

Sustainability
Renewable energy, careful water use and a circular approach to nutrients make the farm more resilient and protect Lake Muhazi.

10 ha
Irrigated fodder
Water is lifted from a screened intake into a lined reservoir and applied by zoned sprinklers, only where and when the fodder needs it.

0
Untreated manure to the lake
Slurry from the barns is treated to produce biogas for the farm and compost that returns nutrients to the fields.

100%
Wetland kept protected
A protected papyrus wetland filters run-off, shelters birds such as the grey crowned crane and buffers the lakeshore.
Circular by design
Each system feeds the next, cutting costs, protecting the lake and keeping the soil productive.
Solar PV powers the lake pump, milk cooling and farm buildings.
A screened lake intake fills the reservoir that feeds the sprinklers.
10 ha of irrigated Napier, maize and legumes grow year-round.
Cows eat a balanced ration and produce clean, cooled milk.
Slurry is collected from the barns into the treatment reserve.
Gas for the farm, nutrient-rich compost back to the fields.
